Tikkun Olam, repairing the world, is at the very heart of Liberal Judaism. We are guided by the idea that: “You are not required to complete the work, yet you are not allowed to desist from it” (Pirkei Avot, 2:21).
Tikkun Olam is one of the LJS’s eight values. The community is keen to establish a committee to focus on this, building on the success of a previous Social Action committee which operated at LJS for some years.
There will be a short meeting at 1300 hours (following the Shabbat morning service and kiddush) on March 16. This meeting is open to all, whether or not you would like to be involved in the Committee’s work. We’ll use the time to consider the range of causes we might like to focus on as a community, ways in which we might support them, and start to agree priorities for the next 6 months. Please come and share your thoughts, ideas and questions.
We hope to see as many as possible at the meeting but, if you are interested and cannot be present, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
